Tips and strategy
A round of Crowd Clash lasts only 4 minutes, so every second counts. These tips help you grow fast, pick the right fights and finish 1st.
What 1st place is worth
When the timer ends, the biggest crowd wins. The top places get bonus coins and XP:
| Place | Bonus coins | Bonus XP |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | 150 | 60 |
| 2nd | 90 | 40 |
| 3rd | 60 | 25 |
| 4th or lower | 20 | 0 |
If your crowd is beaten, or you press END ROUND, you get no rank bonus. So staying alive until the end is part of winning.
A simple plan for every round
| Time left | What to do |
|---|---|
| 4:00 – 3:52 | Your shield is on: grab grey people fast. |
| 3:52 – 2:00 | Grow: chests, gold rings and small green crowds. |
| 2:00 – 1:00 | Hunt green crowds, stay away from red ones. |
| 1:00 – 0:00 | Protect your place and stay alive. |
The first 8 seconds
You start with 6 soldiers (more with upgrades) and an 8-second shield. Don't waste it!
- Run to the nearest grey people and keep moving.
- Look for gold rings: they mark archers, barbarians and giants. One giant is worth 9 soldiers.
- If a magnet is close, grab it: it pulls in grey people from 240 px away.
- New player? In your first 2 rounds, enemy crowds start at 60% size. A great time to practise.
Grow fast
- Chests are the best deal: 11 units in one pickup. Find them as yellow dots on the minimap.
- Enemies can't take chests or coins. Plan a route that collects several.
- Small crowds are the fastest. Use your early speed to collect, and fight when you are bigger.
- Beaten crowds come back 5 seconds later somewhere else, sized to match your strength. There is always another crowd to beat.
Read the rings
Every enemy crowd has a coloured ring that compares its power with yours:
- Green ringBelow 85% of your power. You can beat it.
- Yellow ringAbout the same as you. A fight hurts both crowds.
- Red ringAbove 115% of your power. Run!

What a fight really costs
In a fight, each crowd loses power every second equal to half of the other crowd's power. So the closer the fight, the more it costs. Say you have 100 power and only soldiers fight (no archers, no shields). The numbers are rounded:
| Enemy power | You lose | Join you | You end with |
|---|---|---|---|
| 25 green | 3 | +10 | 107 |
| 50 green | 13 | +20 | 107 |
| 80 green | 40 | +32 | 92 |
| 100 yellow | all | – | 0 |
An even fight beats both crowds. The lesson: the best fights are against crowds about half your power or less. A green crowd that is nearly as strong as you can leave you weaker than before.
Know when to run
- Each unit slows you a little. A full crowd of 350 is about 19% slower than a small one.
- Enemy crowds move at only 88% of normal speed, so you can usually outrun a crowd of your own size.
- Fighting slows you to 70% speed. If a fight goes badly, leave early.
- Archers shoot from 170 px away, so keep your distance from red-ring crowds.
Use power-ups like a pro
- Shield attack: with a shield you lose nothing, but a crowd you touch still loses power. Walk into a yellow-ring crowd and let the 6 seconds do the work.
- Speed chase or escape: 45% faster for 8 seconds catches a fleeing green crowd or gets you away from a red one.
- Magnet sweep: take it to a busy spot full of grey people.
The last minute
- In 1st place? Play safe. Stay away from yellow and red rings and keep collecting grey people.
- In 2nd or 3rd? Hunt small green-ring crowds and chests to catch up.
- Never press END ROUND when you are doing well: you lose the rank bonus.
Between rounds
- Claim your daily reward: 7 days in a row gives 430 coins.
- Finish your 3 daily missions for 30 to 120 coins each.
- Buy the first levels of Bigger Start and Giant Friend first. Recruiter makes every win bigger.
- Level up for 50 coins each time. A round gives 20 XP, plus 10 per crowd beaten, 0.2 per unit of your biggest crowd and 60 for 1st place. Beat 5 crowds, reach 120 units and finish 1st, and that is 20 + 50 + 24 + 60 = 154 XP.
